I-66 Express Lanes P3

The I-66 Express Lanes project transformed one of Northern Virginia’s busiest transportation corridors into a modern, multimodal roadway designed to move more people, improve travel reliability, and expand transportation options for the region.

Delivered through a joint venture between Allan Myers and Ferrovial Construction US (FAM Construction), the project included 22.5 miles of new express lanes, interchange improvements, commuter access enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades from Route 29 in Gainesville to I-495.

As one of the largest public-private partnership (P3) infrastructure projects in the United States, the $3.7 billion initiative was funded through private investment and represented a major milestone for both the region and Allan Myers. More than 250 Allan Myers employees contributed to the project, which opened ahead of schedule in November 2022.

The project added new express lane capacity, improved regional connectivity, and enhanced access to commuter facilities while supporting safer and more efficient travel throughout the corridor. Beyond its impact on mobility, the I-66 Express Lanes project expanded Allan Myers’ capabilities, strengthened its presence in Northern Virginia, and helped position the company for continued growth on some of the region’s most complex and high-profile transportation projects.
