Who We Are

Building better since 1939

Since our founding in 1939, Allan Myers has grown into a leading self-performing heavy civil contractor and materials supplier in the Mid-Atlantic. We deliver projects of every size, vertically integrating the production of raw materials, extensive resources, and the scale and expertise required to support the most complex challenges. We work seamlessly across disciplines, projects, and regions to get the job done.

We often say, if it can be designed, we can build it.

Founding and legacy

Allan A. and Allan C. Myers, father and son, founded their company in 1939 to pave local driveways. Starting on the family farm in Worcester, PA, the company remains rooted in deep family tradition dedicated to quality work, safety, and the value of long‑term relationships. Four generations later, our legacy of building essential infrastructure, supporting local communities, and investing in our people remains at the heart of who we are.

Ross Myers, the third generation of family, joined the company in 1972 following his graduation from Virginia Tech. He brought fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the company, making a deal with his father that they could pursue a new line of business each profitable year. His visionary leadership has shaped Allan Myers into a nationally respected infrastructure leader, known for its commitment to safety, quality, and integrity.

The family tradition remains strong as the fourth generation of the Myers family recently assumed new leadership roles. Partnered with Ross and a team of long-time senior leaders, Aaron, Brock, and Seth share the deep understanding of the company’s history, operations, culture, and strategic priorities representing the next generation of family leadership.

Our history

1930s

Allan A. Myers and Son founded

Founded in 1939 during the Great Depression, the father-and-son team of Allan A. Myers and Allan C. Myers of rural Worcester, PA, sold six dairy cows to fund the down payment on a new 1939 Ford dump truck. The truck was black, as all Myers trucks would be, with the number three painted on the side, though there was no truck number one or two. What started as a small hauling operation serving local farmers laid the foundation for the company.

Lessons from the Seabees

World War II marked a turning point as Allan C. Myers served with the U.S. Navy Seabees, gaining valuable heavy equipment experience and a “can do” mindset. This became the foundation of the company. After returning home, the company expanded into roadwork and earthmoving with the purchase of its first roller and dozer.

Rebuilding and moving forward

Following the passing of co-founder Allan A. Myers in 1966, the company faced financial hardship. In 1967, after restructuring and restarting operations, the business emerged strongerdefining its culture of resilience and determination. During that time, the operation at the family farm expanded with an equipment storage yard, maintenance and welding shop, and administration building.

The third generation

Ross Myers joined his father at the company as the third generation, helping to expand services and create new opportunities for growth. With just 20 employees and $200,000 in revenue, leadership committed to adding a new type of project each year the company was profitable. This approach led to new ventures, including excavation, bridge work, and the company’s first PennDOT contract.
