Crews prepared a former brownfield site for two large warehouses at Garden State Logistics Park totaling more than 1.7 million square feet. To support development, the team imported more than 300,000 cubic yards of fill from local sources, including Allan Myers’ Elk Mills and Paradise asphalt plants.

The site, once a coal-fired power plant, presented complex challenges, including varying groundwater levels from its proximity to the Delaware River, a canal, and surrounding wetlands.

Crews also worked to stabilize fly ash, a combustion waste product that had contaminated the soil. Rather than remove the material, the team developed a solution to safely reuse it as engineered fill, testing different combinations of additives and moisture to achieve the required performance.

Through careful planning and field innovation, the team successfully delivered this large-scale site development project in southern New Jersey.
